Online consultations and advice are for routine queries and advice only. Despite Government promises in 2025 to restrict urgent requests online, they have refused to do so.

What does this mean?

GP services have seen large increases in unfunded work which is unsafe. Urgent consultations and advice whilst are triaged daily, carry significant risk to patients and clinicians until the request is received and reviewed.

Whilst it is impossible to define and list everything, routine consultations and advice are essential issues that do not need immediate attention and can be dealt with in coming days or possible weeks.

If you feel your issue needs immediate, urgent or reply sooner than this, you should not use online access tools.

We receive a lot of requests and enquiries that could be dealt with elsewhere. Please consider if your query or problem can be dealt with by other services. We may ask you to use more appropriate services if your request can be dealt with by other services.

All online advice and medical input is subject to many factors and can lead to inaccurate data gathering, inaccurate advice and inaccurate treatment. Our team will do our upmost to prevent this but using online consultations is very risky and by using them you must accept their limitations and the risks that are associated with them, namely incorrect diagnosis, incorrect treatment and possible patient harm as a consequence.
